Resume
A proud Maryland graduate (Go Terps!), my studies incorporated recreational therapy, physical education, culminating with my Bachelor of Science degree in Special & Elementary Education, with a strong Psychology minor. I made my family proud, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I began some Masters courses, and am still finishing that life goal.

In the early 80's, I began working with high risk youth, and studied counseling in Dallas and Arizona, working for an innovative Adolescent program, for over a decade. My post graduate work included a successful completion at the top of my class at Cal State, Bakersfield, where I received my Alcohol & Drug Education Certification. In 1992-2005, I received both my state and national certifications following stringent re-certification hours and experience throughout the years.

I began working with Intervention Specialists in 2010, now Change, offering a variety of services for those with alcohol & drug addiction, eating disorders, mental health issues, and other process disorders. I completed the first ever "Breakthrough Intervention Skills Training" in New York. As a Family Class Educator, I offered weekly classes to inform, educate and support the family while their loved one was receiving primary treatment.  I also offer Life Coaching, from the intervention stage throughout transition to a healthier life style.

Working with the following individuals with Down Syndrome, Autism, Asberger's, Cerebral Palsy, Prader Willie, Apert's, Quadriplegia, and those developmentally delayed people, has given me a broad spectrum of opportunities for positive growth. In addition, the Mental Health issues I have worked with include bipolar, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, addiction, self image, and self esteem issues.

I continue to volunteer for Special Olympics, and support other incredible organizations, like Surfer's HealingZeno Mountain Farm, and Performing Arts Studio West.  A favorite event, that brings joy to my heart & tears to my eyes, is the annual Evening of Dreams in Sacramento California. Everything from limos, to a red carpet entrance, corsages, professional photos, disco ball, music, dinner & dance, transform young people not able to attend a "traditional" school prom, into a night of MAGIC! The teen escorts offer their support to the special needs young people, illuminating this beautiful experience to create a lasting memory for families involved.
